Ms Hlengiwe Mtshali

Hlengiwe Mtshali holds a master’s degree in Botany. She currently works for the South African National Biodiversity Institute as a Plant Red List Specialist. Her interests revolve mostly around monitoring of indigenous and threatened plant species and assessing their risk of extinctions.

Hlengiwe also provides support to neighbouring countries in the greater SADC region doing similar work. In addition, her research interest is in freshwater ecology, particularly aquatic plants as well as wetlands vegetation ecology
