An Introduction to the IUCN Red List

The IUCN Red List is an internationally standardised process used to assess the likelihood of a species going extinct. It makes use of all available data on a species’ ecology and distribution, together with standardised categories and criteria to determine the final conservation status of a species.

In this talk, Hlengiwe Mtshali provides an introduction to the IUCN Red List and it's uses. Hlengiwe Mtshali is a Plant Red List Specialist whose research interests include freshwater ecology, particularly aquatic plants.
